Daily Fetch 7.31.12: San Mateo Union High School District in deep doo-doo…

This isn’t going to be a good story for anyone… and may even trump the Mosquito District embezzlement story for incompetence. From the Chronicle:

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights has opened an investigation into whether the [San Mateo Union High School] District is enforcing proof-of-residency policies selectively against Chinese Americans who live in multifamily homes, or with relatives other than their parents…”

Nothing is simple in Atherton. Not only will Atheron voters decide about a local library, a local City Hall, and a baseball field idea, they will also have a very contested Council race. Three more folks have pulled papers for two seats up for re-election. In addition to incumbent Elizabeth Lewis running, Cary Wiest is running, so are Denise Kupperman, Robert Roeser, and Jo-Ann Sockolov… What about Kathy McKeithen you ask? Well, she still isn’t returning Bonnie Eslinger’s calls. Big mistake Kathy, big mistake…

East Palo Alto is having money problems…still.  So employees will have an 11-day furlough in the coming year. Not 11 days in a row, which would be awesome, but 11 days spread out throughout the year, which is less awesome…

Speaking of politics, Joe Simitian endorsed Jerry Hill for State Senate… Sally must be pissed!

Michelle Durand takes on Chik-Fil-A… sort of. She’s a good and thoughtful read today.
